| The Dirty Dozen — Twelve External Factors Impacting Insurance Contracts |

| Instructor David Blakesley, CPCU, CIC, ARM: The role of the claims professional in determining coverage would be so easy if everything was in black and white! Insurance coverage can be impacted by factors external to the contract, which leads to grey areas. In this workshop, attendees will examine twelve factors external to the insurance contract that must be considered when analyzing coverage afforded by a policy contract. This interactive workshop will include examination of recent court cases. To maximize learning, attendees will have an opportunity to apply the principles discussed, and to gauge the impact of the “Dirty Dozen.” |

| Mark Bruckmann and a panel of his industry colleagues aims to help you gain a better understanding of a business interruption policy’s insuring provision, allow the sharing of individual expertise via table and group discussions and leave with practice points useful in your everyday work. Throughout there is an emphasis on interactive discussions using actual case examples. |

• A Business Interruption Primer (coverage and concepts) and,
• Interactive discussions, using actual case examples.

• The requirement that physical damage caused the business interruption
• Calculating the period of indemnity
How an engineer can assist (Douglas Peterson, a professional engineer, will address the workshop’s engineering aspects)
